![]() ![]() The iPad version costs only $25 compared to the Switch's $50. The iPad version trumps the Switch version in every way – from visuals and controls to even its price. Still, there's no contest between this new iPad version and the Switch version of Divinity 2. However, a lot of the low-res textures and rough image quality benefit from the overhead camera, so it doesn't look as bad as you'd imagine. The iPad version trumps the Switch version in every wayĪt best, the Nintendo Switch outputs a 720p image while docked, but handheld resolution fluctuates to sub-720p levels, which means Divinity 2 does get quite ugly on Nintendo's handheld system. Divinity 2 is demanding in many unexpected ways, and it really puts the Switch through its paces. Diving into Divinity 2 on the Switch is interesting. But I did want to check it against the Switch version of the game, which is notable because it's the only other portable version of the game. All of the DLC is included in the iPad version and many of the updates and fixes that have come over the last few years. In short, aside from controls, not much else has changed in Divinity 2. Nicer still is that you can even use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard if you truly can't leave the desktop behind. Drop-in and drop-out seamlessly, though the size of the screen is admittedly cramped while playing with more than one person. This is also the only way to access the game's new local co-op mode, as well. You can easily hook up your Xbox controller or your PlayStation controller and control it as if you were playing them on their respective console. If you're like me, however, chances are you'll be reaching for a controller, which the game supports, thanks to the recent iOS 14.5 update. Still, it is very playable once you get comfortable with movement and camera controls. While I was testing it out, there were many times I accidentally brushed an additional finger across the screen, accidentally triggering a menu. The developers have worked at length to translate Divinity's menus and battle systems down to simple taps and gestures on your screen. Obviously, one of the biggest changes in this version of Divinity 2 comes from the way you control the game. Cross save is a compelling enough convenience, however, that I might stretch into new genres.Divinity 2 Touch Controls (Image credit: iMore) Secondarily, so I can play the Toca Boca games while he is asleep, because they are great. I recently bought an old, secondhand iPad, primarily so I could give my son Toca Boca games to play while I get a little extra sleep in the mornings. ![]() And just to be clear rather than snide: yes, disclosure, Adam works at Larian now. It's a vast, often silly, highly reactive RPG that can also be played fully in co-op, and at this point it's basically been canonised as a modern classic. In his Larian job application Divinity Originl Sin 2 review, Adam praised D:OS2 for the great and numerous stories it contains. You can switch languages in Steam by right-clicking the game in your library, choosing Properties, and switching to the Languages tab. The same update also comes with language updates, adding Brazilian Portuguese and Latin-American Spanish. The iOS version of the game now has Steam Cross Save functionality, meaning you can move your progress in the RPG back and forth. ![]() Your Divinity: Original Sin 2 saves are another thing which cannot be limited by petty platform divides. It's lying-in-my-bed, playing-cool-games news, and such joys cannot be limited by petty platform divides. Is this iPad news we shouldn't be writing about, or is it PC news fit for a PC games website?
